Bring your E-waste

Free Geek VancouverFree Geek Vancouver was on-site at EPIC, collecting your e-waste for recycling and/or responsible disposal.

Here’s what was and what wasn’t collected:


  • Computers – working or non-working
  • CRT & LCD Monitors *
  • Parts of computers
  • Laptops (please attach the laptop power supply with masking tape/rubber bands if possible)
  • Printers
  • Scanners
  • Keyboards and Mice
  • Fax Machines
  • Modems, routers, switches
  • Motherboards and accessory cards
  • Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS)
  • Computer cables
  • Cell Phones
  • Game Consoles, Cartridges and Accessories (Atari, Nintendo, Sega, etc)
  • Power bars, extension cords, phone cords, etc
  • CDs and DVDs
  • CPU/CRT combos (like iMacs)

* We gladly accept all computer hardware, but ask that you bring CRT (glass tube) computer monitors directly to downstream recycler Encorp, at 1856 Powell Street.

Please make our volunteers’ jobs easier by:

  • Untangling cords and coiling them with rubber bands, tape, or twist-ties
  • Attaching power adapters to their associated equipment
  • Resetting phones, cameras, and other devices to factory defaults, including erasing all data

Do NOT Bring:

  • CRT monitors with broken glass
  • Used toner cartridges (we will accept them if they are inside a printer, but not otherwise)
  • Photocopiers
  • Telephones (We DO however accept IP phones)
  • Flash Lights
  • Electric Typewriters
  • Stereo Equipment
  • Televisions or Remote Controls
  • Microwave Ovens
  • Copiers
  • Smoke Detectors
  • Appliances (including air conditioners)
  • Cash Registers
  • VHS tapes
